Privnote secures your private messages with leave no trace

Read Time:2 Minute, 45 Second

Modern society places an increasing emphasis on privacy. Online communications are common, making us vulnerable to hacks, data breaches, and surveillance. Sending sensitive information over emails, texts, or messaging apps is always risky. Private notes can be sent via Privnote, a free online platform that self-destructs after reading. Share confidential information or have a private conversation with confidence.

It works by encrypting messages on the sender’s device before they are transmitted. Once the recipient opens the note, they view it securely, but after it’s closed, the note is automatically and permanently deleted from Privnote’s servers. Neither the sender nor the recipient retains a copy. Privacy is ensured by “leave no trace” methods. There’s no record of the communication left in your email, messaging app, or Privnote itself. The encryption protocols also prevent third parties like hackers, ISPs, or governments from intercepting and accessing the contents of Privnote messages.

In an age of widespread data harvesting and mass surveillance, Privnote’s emphasis on ephemerality provides much-needed protection. The creator himself said he was motivated to develop Privnote after seeing how much private data is stored indefinitely and vulnerably online.

  • Zero retention policy: Messages are deleted instantly after reading. There is no stored data to subpoena or hack.
  • End-to-end encryption: Contents are encrypted on the sender’s device and decrypted on the recipient’s device so no one in between access them.
  • Self-destructing: Notes are set to expire after being read once or after a specified time limit. Recipients can’t retain or forward them.
  • No logins required: Privnote doesn’t collect usernames, emails, IP addresses, or any other identifying information. You use it anonymously.
  • Accessible interface: Privnote is simple and intuitive to use. Just compose a note and share the unique, custom URL with recipients.
  • Secure file sharing: In addition to text, you share files up to 2GB privately through Privnote. Uploaded files are encrypted and deleted after download. You can check out privatemessage.net for more information if you need it.

How private and secure is privnote?

Privnote was built from the ground up with an uncompromising commitment to privacy and security.

  • End-to-end encryption – Senders encrypt messages, and recipients decrypt them on their devices, preventing interception.
  • No data retention – Links expire and notes are instantly deleted from Privnote’s server after being read once. There are no stored records to leak or subpoena.
  • No metadata collection – Privnote doesn’t collect or store any metadata like IP addresses or browser fingerprints that could identify users.
  • Onion routing – Website traffic is routed through the Tor network to anonymize activity and prevent tracking. Direct IP-to-IP connections are blocked.
  • Third-party audits – Privnote’s code has been thoroughly audited by researchers to verify its security standards and proper use of encryption. No backdoors have been found.
  • Open source code – As an open source tool, Privnote’s codebase is entirely transparent for public scrutiny to ensure there are no vulnerabilities.
  • Salted hashing – Passwords used on links with required passwords are salted and hashed so not even Privnote has access to them.

For even greater anonymity, Privnote recommends accessing its site through the Tor Browser and not using your regular email or messaging apps to share the links. As long as you avoid phishing attempts trying to steal your links, Privnote notes provide unmatched privacy.
